Restylane
Dr. Sandy Martin Provides Restylane to Patients. Restylane(tm), and its thicker sister product Perlane(tm) are two forms of dermal filler that are available today to treat wrinkles. Both of these products are injected into the mid to deep dermis and provide a temporary volume replacement. The difference between the two products is that the Perlane is a thicker form of the filler. It is more analogous to Juvederm Ultra Plus(tm) in the Juvederm(tm) line of dermal filler products, but made by a different manufacturer.
These fillers are very similar to each other. They are gels and made from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of our skin and therefore allergies to it are very uncommon. Unlike Zyderm(tm), which is a collagen filler, Restylane(tm) does not require skin testing prior to usage. Restylane is probably the most commonly injected dermal filler.
Because it is a temporary filler, if one is unhappy about the appearance of a treatment, it will improve with time. Additionally, your dermatologist can inject a medication called hyaluronidase to melt away Restylane or Perlane(tm) more rapidly if you are unhappy with the way it appears.
The difference between Juvederm and Restylane is a matter of personal choice and great results can be gotten with both products in the face or around the lips.
