Fotofacial™

Fotofacials (sometimes spelt Photofacial) are an exciting way to rejuvenate the skin by using either Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Broad Band Light (BBL).  This treatment reduces signs of aging consisting of broken capillaries and various pigmented aberrations such as brown spots.

The treatment is accomplished by first applying a cold gel to the face (after protecting the eyes of both the patient and the staff!) and using the BBL to give pulses of light over the entire face, nose, forehead and chin areas.

We can use an anesthetic cream to blunt virtually any sensation or it can be done without any anesthetic at all.  It’s the patient’s preference.

The (Photofacial) procedure takes about 30 to 40 minutes and following the procedure, an ice pack is usually applied for a short time.  A sunscreen is a good idea prior to leaving the office.

There is no downtime with this treatment and the patient can return to whatever they want to do, with the exception of being in the sun.

The treatment is usually administered in packages of 3 to five treatments each occurring after an interval of about a month.

Once done, the skin appears rejuvenated and freshened with less broken capillaries, redness, and brown spots.
