IPL or Intense Pulsed Light Treatments

Intense Pulsed Light, or Broad Band Light (BBL) treatments are colloquially referred to as laser treatment but technically they are not. I’m not sure that the technical difference is within the scope of this website but generally speaking, if you are treated with a laser-like device that emits a FLASH of light, it probably falls into the spectrum of IPL or BBL.

BBL treatment, as we are able to offer using the Sciton product is simply a wonder of modern medical science and treatment.  The Sciton comes with a variety of filters that cover a wide range of wavelengths.  These filters can be changed “on the fly”…that is without turning off the machine to install.  This is no small accomplishment as  other manufacturer’s devices, for example the Palomar Starlux 500, has different handpieces encompassing the same or similar wavelengths but the machine must be powered down in order to swap handpieces.  The “swapping” of the handpieces in and of itself is not that easy since various connections, including coolant connections must be exactly right.  So the Sciton “on the fly” filter change can really speed up your treatments.
