Sallow Skin Treatments
IPL or BBL Light Treatment
The term “Sallow Skin” refers to skin that has lost its vibrancy and shine. It may have done so as a result of aging, or it may have done so as a result of sun overexposure. Or perhaps it is from smoking and a less than optimum diet. But whatever the cause of sallow skin, in addition to correcting those factors that contributed to it, IPL or BBL treatment may improve it.
Treatments are non-invasive and no-downtime treatments, and usually are given in a package of three to five treatments at approximately monthly intervals. Of course they are cosmetic treatments and are not covered by any insurance.
Once the skin color and texture improves, a good skin care regimen including a topical retinoid and broad spectrum sunscreen will help preserve the “new you”!
Laser Treatment
In addition to IPL or BBL therapy, fractional non ablative laser rejuvenation is also productive in restoring that nice skin color.
Chemical Peels: Jessner's
Another treatment that can improve Sallow Skin is a freshening chemical peel done with Jessner's solution. Jessner’s solution is a combination of mild acids (usually salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol) that is applied to the skin in the office.
It is a mild peeling agent which will induce a mild pinkness with or without some short-lived frosting of the skin. The peeling is variable and may be subtle or more dramatic and may last for a day or so to as long as a week. Usually then the skin appears renewed. Needless to say, the skin must be protected from sun exposure! The procedure is quick and has the slightest stinging associated with it. ( A hand fan in the office helps!).
Once the peel is done peeling, the skin is renewed and refreshed.
